General Pet Surgery Information:

The earliest that we accept surgery patients is 8 a.m.! Please try to have your pet to the clinic by 8:15 a.m. unless other arrangements have been made. Most patients will go home the same day as surgery. We will let you know ahead of time if they will need to spend the night.

All pets need to be fasted prior to surgery. No food, including treats, aren't allowed after 8 p.m. the night prior to surgery, water is fine. Please bring along a meal that we can feed to your pet after surgery.

If your pet is taking medication and you are not able to give it to them with out food, please bring it with you and our staff would be happy to administer the medication to your pet! Please note that we will ask what medications your pet is currently taking.

For our diabetic patients, we recommend no food, including treats, after 10 p.m. the night before surgery, water is fine, unless otherwise directed by one of our doctors. Only administer a 1/2 dose of insulin in the morning, unless otherwise directed by one of our doctors. Your pet's blood glucose level will measured though out the day.

Surgical patients (besides low-cost cat spay/ neuters), have a physical exam, pre-anesthetic blood work, an IV catheter, IV fluids during the procedure, and pain management. All patients are monitored by one of our CVTs using capnography, pulse oximetry, heart rate, respiratory rate, temperature and EKG monitoring to ensure the safety of your pet.

Low-cost cat spays/ neuters have a physical exam, sub-cutaneous fluids and pain management. All low cost surgeries are monitored by one of our CVTs using pulse oximetry, heart rate, respiratory rate and temperature.

Please call with any and all questions that you may have prior to your pet's surgical procedure.
